This appears to be an electrostatic generator. There is a glass wheel, mounted in a wood frame. There may be metal wire brushes attached to the inside of the wooden frame. Economy was the third settlement started by the Harmonist Society, and is now listed on the National Register of Historic Properties. The site is located in Ambridge, Pennsylvania.
