Arizona Hopi Kachina Figures Carved in Wood and Painted in Vivid Colors (Profile View)

Arizona Hopi Kachina Figures Carved in Wood and Painted in Vivid Colors (Profile View)

These wood carvings represent Hopi Kachina Corn dolls. They are intricately carved and beautifully painted. The doll on the left has yellow corn kernels and green leaves carved into the area under her brown and red blanket. Her hair is long in the back with very detailed carving. This piece is signed (although it is difficult to decipher). It looks like "Sanakala H. I." The figure on the right in the photo has a multi-colored blanket and a green and gold face. The hair is also long in the back with intricate carving. The figures stand 10 inches (25 cm) tall.
