The double doors from the Great Mosque of Cizre are pictured here at the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Art in Istanbul. The doors consist of a timber frame and are plated with copper sheets attached to the wood by iron nails. Brass rods form an interlocking design of twelve-pointed stars. Between the spaces on the stars are plaques with openwork designs of scrolls. Motifs resembling four-leaf clovers can be seen in the border surrounding the door; they are fixed to the doors by domed studs.Galleries:Doors, Islam, Turkish and Islamic Arts MuseumKeywords:cizre ulu camii kapisi ve kapi tokmaklari, double doors, istanbul, museum of turkish and islamic art, the door of cizre great mosque and its door knobs, turkeyPhoto Location: Museum of Turkish and Islamic Art, Istanbul, TurkeyPhotographer: Dr. Roy WinkelmanDate of Photo: 05/16/2012Device Make: CanonDevice Model: Canon EOS 5D Mark IIExposure Time: 0.05F Number: 5.6Original Dimensions: 3744×5616Picture Orientation: PortraitGPS Coordinates: 41°0′22.68″N 28°58′28.42″EPicture Number: 22751
