Florida Gilbert Naber Kids Doll Made with Wood Chips and Resin (Three Quarter View)
Naber doll of Gilbert (#810), sitting on a chair. He has fibrous hair and a black felt hat with white feather. He is wearing a white cotton shirt and brown cotton jumper shorts. In making the dolls, Naber carves redwood or yellow cedar to form the original head, body, arms, and legs. Then a latex rubber impression is made of the original parts to form a mold. Into the mold is poured a mixture made partly of wood chips and pigmented resin. The embryonic doll is then cured under more than 2 tons of pressure.
