Hand made doll from Guadeloupe, a region of France in the Caribbean (Leeward Islands). The base of the doll is made from a paper cone that is painted in bright yellow with a red and green flower. Her torso and head are created with tape, that is painted and covered with shellac. Her arms are wire, which are wrapped in tape and then painted. She is holding a basket on one are. The basket is filled with watermelon and other fruit. On her head, she has an African style head scarf, which is painted blue with white polka dots, to match the trim on her dress.
