Redware and Tin Dinnerware on a Rack

Redware and Tin Dinnerware on a Rack

This rack holds different types of shallow bowls and plates. The top shelf appears to hold redware bowls, with underglaze decorations. The middle shelf appears to hold glazed bowls, although the center bowl may be simply have been burnished but not glazed. The bottom shelf holds tin plates, a tin bowl, and two tin cups. On the counter top, below the shelves, there are three redware bowls, that appear to have underglaze treatments. Economy was the third settlement started by the Harmonist Society, and is now listed on the National Register of Historic Properties. The site is located in Ambridge, Pennsylvania. For more information about the Harmonist Society’s settlement at “Oekonomie,” visit the Old Economy Village website.
