This image shows a window shutter that has been made from two vertical planks, and joined with two smaller pieces of wood. There is a sliding latch on side of the shutter that faces the interior of the house when the shutter is closed, and a small metal ring to pull the shutter closed. In this picture, the shutter is being held open by a shutter dog. Economy was the third settlement started by the Harmonist Society, and is now listed on the National Register of Historic Properties.
