This is a close-up of two holes that have been drilled into a stone block. This is a sleeper stone. The holes were drilled to accommodate a chair, which would have been used to attached a section of railroad track to the stone block. There is some rust staining, on the block, where the metal chair was attached.Galleries:Allegheny Portage Railroad, Other Railroad TransportationKeywords:allegheny portage railroad, drill holes, gallitzin, pennsylvania, rust staining, sleeper stonesPhoto Location: Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site, PennsylvaniaPhotographer: Dr. Roy WinkelmanDate of Photo: 11/25/2011Device Make: CanonDevice Model: Canon EOS 5D Mark IIOriginal Dimensions: 5616×3744Picture Orientation: LandscapeGPS Coordinates: 40°27'26.33"N 78°32'57.61"WPicture Number: 15847
