Hans Christian Andersen

Hans Christian Andersen was born in Odense, Denmark, in 1805. He became famous for his fairy tales, although he also published poems and novels, first finding renown as a poet. Once he began publishing collections of his fairy tales, he found great success, becoming one of the most widely-read and widely-loved children's authors. His output equaled more than 150 fairy tales.

One of the most prestigous prizes to be awarded in children's literature is the Hans Christian Andersen Award.

Lit2Go is an online treasury of children's literature in audiobook format that can be played on any computer or MP3 player. Each passage is aligned with the Sunshine State Standards and includes reading strategies and other information to support classroom use. This collection is a part of the Educational Technology Clearinghouse and is funded by a grant from the Florida Department of Education, Bureau of Instruction and Innovation.
