Description: A sketch map of the Battle of Aliwal, fought on 28 January 1846 between the Sikh Khalsa Army and the British East India Company during the First Anglo–Sikh War (1845–1846). The map shows the Sikh encampment on the River Sutlej and positions near the village of Aliwal, the British positions near Purain, and their advance to the Sutlej. The British victory is considered by many as the turning point of the war.
