Description: A map from 1912 of India, showing the boundary between the northern and southern divisions of the Army of India, and showing only the military stations in the region. After the British Crown took over direct rule of India from the East India Company in 1858, the Indian Army (made up of the presidencies armies of Bengal, Madras, and Bombay) was established (1895–1902), until it was reformed into the Army of India (1902), comprised of both the Indian Army (local recruits) and the British Army in India (on tour from the United Kingdom).
