Description: A map from 1906 of Eastern India, Burma, Siam, French Indo-China and Malay Peninsula showing the political boundaries and foreign possessions at the time. The map shows the boundaries of French and British military occupation of Siam (Thailand) under the treaty of 1896, which defined the border between Siamese Shan States or Laos States and the Shan States of British Burma (Myanmar), and established the spheres of British and French occupancy within Siam. The map shows the political divisions within Burma and French Indochina, including Cambodia, and the British settlements along the Malacca Strait and protectorates of what was to become the Federation of Malay States at the southern end of the Malay Peninsula. The map shows capitals and major cities, ports, railways, rivers, mountain systems, coastal features, and islands of the region, and the ruby and amber mining districts in Burma.
