Description: Frederica is situated on the west side of St. Simon's Island, below the principal mouth of of the Altamaba, and on one of its navigable channels. The fort was constructed of tabby, a mixture of water and lime, along with shells or gravel, forming a hard rocky mass when dry. The ruins of the fort may still be seen.
