Description: A map of the North Pacific from 1906 showing Russian settlements and claims, from 1775 to 1867. This map shows the boundary established by the Treaty of Saint Petersburg (1825) between Britain and Russia, the Ukase (proclamation of the Tsar) of 1799 claiming Pacific territory in North America to the 55° north latitude, the Ukase of 1821 which extended the claims to 51° north latitude and 100 Italian miles from the line of coast and islands, the boundary established by the Russo-American Treaty of 1824 along latitude 54°40’ N., and the International Boundary established by the Alaska purchase in 1867. The map shows the Russian claims to the Aleutian Islands from Attu to Unalaska and the Pribolof Islands, and the settlements of Nulato, Fort St. Michael, Pastolik, Fort Alexander, Fort Nicholas, Fort George, Fort Constantine, Fort Alexander, Illinlink (Unalaska), Saint Paul, Three Saints, New Archangel (Sitka), and Fort Dionysi. This map also shows the British Hudson Bay Company posts of Fort Yukon, Fort Stikien, Fort Simpson, and Fort Vancouver, and the U. S. post at Astoria, Oregon and Fort Ross.
