Description: A map showing the world as the ancients in Europe knew it. This map extends from the Fortunate Isles (Canary Islands) in the west, the most western known land (Ferro Island) and therefore the Ferro Prime Meridian established by Ptolemy, to approximately 180° east, and from the northern 70° to 20° south. These were believed to be the only ‘inhabitable lands’ at the time. The map shows Europia, Hispania, Gaul, Germania, Albion, Scandia, Italia, Dacia, Thrace, Scythia, Persia, Arya, India, Arabia, Egypt, Mauritania, Africa or Libya, Libya Interior, Ethiopia Hesperia, and &Aelig;thiopia Interior.
