Description: Map showing the Pass of Thermopylae, site of the famous battle in 480 BC, when the Greeks attempted to stop the Persian army of Xerxes I from advancing on Athens. The map show the natural bottleneck along the Bay of Malis where King Leonidas I of Sparta was able to block the Persian advance at the Persian Wall for seven days before being completely annihilated, the site of the camp of Xerxes, and the secret mountain pass disclosed by Ephialtes that allowed the Persians to flank the Spartans.
