Description: A map of the Chinese Empire in 1910. The map is color–coded to show the territory of China proper, the dependencies of China (Manchuria, Mongolia, Chinese Turkistan, and Tibet), the frontier with the Russian Empire, the Japanese Empire (including Korea and Formosa or Taiwan), and the foreign possessions of Britain, Germany, France, and Portugal, and the United States possession of the Philippines at the time. The principal treaty ports and places open to British trade in China and Tibet are underlined in black. The map shows the eastern portion of the Trans–Siberian Railway, with the route south of the Amur River through Manchuria and the spur to Port Arthur. Major cities and ports, rivers, mountain systems, plateaus, plains, and coastal features are shown. An inset map details the area around Peking (Beijing).
