Greece Woman Spinning Wool with Distaff in One Hand and Hand Spindle in the Other Hand (Close Up)

Greek lady, dressed in a replica of a traditional Greek worker's costume. She has a ceramic (terracotta) head, hands and feet. Her arms and legs are made with wire, and she is sitting on wood stool. She has a scarf on her head, and is wearing a plaid blouse with tiny buttons. One had is holding a distaff of unspun wool, and the other has a hand spindle for spinning into yarn. Her stand is made from wood, with a woven cover. Tag: “World Crafts Council: Lesvos: Popular costume; authentic reproduction; handmade Dora Parissis." Lesvos (Lesbos) is the third largest Greek island. The figure stands 11 (28 cm) inches tall.
