Italy Female Figurine Sculpted in Murano Glass (Close Up)

Male Venetian glass figurine dressed in 17th century fashion. The sculpture was created on Murano, an island off the coast of Venice. Murano has been well-known since the 10th century for its glassmakers, who create unique Murano glass by using large furnaces to melt the silica. They then shape the glass by using special tools and blowpipes when the glass is between the liquid and solid form. This male doll stands atop a clear glass base with gold running throughout. His face, hat, collar, cuffs and the body are clear with lots of gold flecks. His coat consists of blue and white ribbon glass. The figure stands 10 inches (25 cm) tall.
