When the island is spotted ahead, Capt. Smollett consults his map, which Jim recognizes. Jim confides in Trelawney and Smollett Silver’s plans and Trelawney regrets his hiring of the crew. Smollett urges everyone to stay alert.
Long Arrow returns, excited to show off some of his findings.
The Emancipation Proclamation consists of two executive orders issued by United States President Abraham Lincoln during the American Civil War. The first one, issued September 22, 1862, declared the freedom of all slaves in any state of the Confederate States of America that did not return to Union control by January 1, 1863. The second order, issued January 1, 1863, named ten specific states where it would apply. Lincoln issued the Executive Order by his authority as "Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy" under Article II, section 2 of the United States Constitution.

In the process of safely traversing the coast, Doctor Dolittle discovers a very interesting insect. The group changes course and heads towards the mountains.
The men discuss the battle, showing respect for the efforts of each man.
Utterson and Enfield walk again. They see Jekyll, who suddenly cuts off their conversation.
Mr. Losberne tends to Oliver's wounds, while Mrs. Maylie and Miss Rose prepare to meet injured thief.
Clara and Ida carry out their scheme. Ida plays with chemicals in the kitchen while Clara reads maps and aspires to be a pilot. Meanwhile, they are learning to smoke and drink, all to their father’s horror.
Having discovering the trapped Long Arrow, the group works to rescue the naturalist. Jip once again proves himself to be a hero. Doctor Dolittle's action bring great affection from the rest of the tribe.
The battle commences and the English soldiers draw their swords.
Miss Rose, surprised by the age of the would be burglar, begs Mrs. Maylie not to send the boy to prison. Summoned by Brittles, police officers from London arrive to sort things out.
Marmaduke is sick and has to stay in bed. He becomes very lonely because his siblings were sent to visit their uncle until he Marmaduke recovers. The Toyman visits him and sings to him while making him a special toy to help cheer him up.
The doctor, Bumpo, and Long Arrow depart the Bagjagderag camp, having made a great impact behaviors and beliefs. The group is taken to the Whispering Rocks, where they learn another of the island's secrets. The Popsipetel prepare to elect a new chief.
