A king and his wife make a bet, but the result is unfair to the queen, who is banished to the forest. There a farmer takes her in and she raises her son until he is eighteen. He leaves in search of adventure, only to find himself at his father’s castle. He is given seemingly impossible tasks, which he completes with the help of a fairy. Finally, the king is taught the error of his ways.
Humphrey awakens to find himself aboard the Ghost, a seal-hunter headed for Japan. The cook, Thomas Mugridge, explains the current situation aboard ship.

Just before Walton and his crew leave for England, Victor dies and the monster is found weeping over his creator’s body. He apologizes for the evil he has caused and he departs into the darkness.
They search for the source of the smoke. Quorum and the boats suddenly disappear, leaving the rest to wonder who is responsible.

Black Dog enters the inn and asks for an old friend by the name of Billy Bones. By his description, Jim recognizes him as the old sailor staying with them. Billy tries to kill Blackl Dog with his sword and has a stroke. Dr. Livesey cares for Billy.

After a glass of rum, Billy’s strength is renewed and plans to outrun his pursuers. Jim’s father dies and Jim encounters a blind man who gives Billy a pirate summons. Billy is worried and suffers a fatal stroke.
Essentially homeless, Jurgis runs into a woman who attended his wedding and is given Marija's address. Jurgis visits Marija right before the police arrive to raid the house. Jurgis learns that Marija has been working as a prostitute and is addicted to morphine. Jurgis is arrested again.
Noah and Charlotte, set to leave for London, encounter Fagin and Barney at the Three Cripples Inn.
