As they prepare for the race and practice their courses, a suspicious boat turns the corner and runs into the motor-boat. A gash under the water line is left in the side of the boat and the boys await to hear if they are out of the race.
While visiting Linton, Cathy and Hareton have a fight. Cathy visits three days later, but Linton blames her for previous trouble; she vows not to visit him again, and then he apologizes for his behavior. When Cathy tells all of this to Nelly, Nelly tells Edgar and he forbids Cathy to visit Linton, but says he will allow Linton to visit the Grange.

The Tin Woodman, the Tin Soldier, Woot, Scarecrow and Polychrome look for Nimmie Amee so that the two tin men can ask her to marry them. The group discovers her house but it is surrounded by an invisible wall. The Blue Rabbit and Polychrome help the group to go under the wall and get to the house.
Rebecca describes the Crawley family to Amelia. Rebecca meets her charges.
News of Will distresses the family. Mr. Ford calls on friends to aid in the investigation. The girls have a farewell tea for friends before their departure.
