How do I minimize disruptions due to technical problems?

One way to minimize problems is to standardize your software configurations as much as possible. You should try to have the same versions of the software installed on all of the computers. This way you will not be repeatedly stopped by students in the middle of your lesson because the screen looks different on their computer than it does on yours (or on their classmate's).

Another good idea is to find out if you have tech savvy students in your class who can serve as tech mentors for the rest of the class. These students can provide assistance to their peers so that you don't have to make repeated trips from the front of the room to answer individual questions. This arrangement can also be a good way to keep the more tech savvy students engaged during your lessons, especially during those times when you have to slow things down for the less technologically capable students.
